O.A.S.I.S. Food Pantry News – October 2018
$4000 Grant Received from Emerson
Sending a big thank you to our friends at Emerson for sending a $4000 grant to the food pantry. This is a wonderful and unexpected gift that will be used to purchase needed food and personal care items for our pantry shelves. Applause, Applause!
Volunteers Needed!
Drivers
O.A.S.I.S is seeking two people to do the Wednesday morning Schnucks/Dierbergs food donation pick-up. This entails pick-up and delivery of food items from the designated grocery stores and takes about 3 hours (approximately 8am to 11am) using an O.A.S.I.S. cargo van. Drivers must have valid car insurance, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift at least 30 pounds unassisted. If you or you know someone who might be interested please contact Mike Wraspir by email at O.A.S.I.Sfoodpan@aol.com or by phone 636-723-0037 at the food pantry.
Thrift Store Workers
The O.A.S.I.S Thrift Store is up and running but is short on volunteers. Donated items sold at the Thrift Store is one way the pantry raises funds to purchase food and personal care items for distribution at the pantry. Thrift Store hours are 10am until 3pm Wednesday through Saturday and Thursday evenings 4:30pm to 8:30pm. If you or your church group (men or women) are looking for a fun service project and can give about 5 hours of your time per week to the Thrift Store, please contact Diana Mayfield by email relyondiana2@gmail.com or by phone 314-583-5599.
Up and Coming Events that Benefit the O.A.S.I.S Food Pantry
Can’t volunteer, well here are two events where you can help the pantry through your attendance and/or participation. These special events go a long way to help keep our programs running.
Taste of St. Charles -Thursday, November 15th 6pm to 9pm.
Held at the St. Charles Convention Center and sponsored by the St. Charles Rotary Club. Part of the evening’s profit will be donated to O.A.S.I.S in the form of a grant for our 2019 Children’s Summer Food Program. Tickets $45 at the door, or available through O.A.S.I.S. Hope to see you there!
Scouting for Food – Food Drive Saturday, November 17th
This is the Boy Scouts annual canned food drive. Please check your porch for the ‘scouting for food’ bags and remember to fill and place bags outside for pick up on the 17th. This program helps keep our shelves stocked throughout the holiday season and into the new year.
As always, we thank you for your continued support of this worthy cause.

Good morning FB Universe: I need your help please. As many of you know, The Brass Rail in O’Fallon Missouri feeds people in need for Thanksgiving every year for FREE. Last year we fed over 7000 people a hot Thanksgiving meal complete with all the trimmings. Well it’s nearly that time again and our goal this year is 10,000 meals; and this year we’d like to add a warm hat, gloves or mittens to EVERY order. So, we are humbly asking for donations to help us achieve this incredible goal. This is the first time we’ve had to ask for help, and we’re uncomfortable doing so, but the expense to feed 10,000 people and provide hats and gloves has gotten HUGE. If you have $5 or $10 or even some spare change, or can mail us a new winter hat, gloves or mittens, we’d be so grateful, and we promise you to put it to good use. If you would like to help please send to The Brass Rail 4601 Highway K O’Fallon MO 63368 Attn: Scott. And please share this with as many people as you can, maybe we can feed 12,000 with your help. Thank you so much.
