Summer EBT Is Returning!

  • Summer EBT, also known as SUN Bucks, is a program that provides families approximately $120 per eligible child each summer to help with food costs during the summer months. Not every state operates the program as of 2026. Check to see if your state operates by scanning the QR code below.
  • A child is eligible if they qualify to receive free or reduced-price meals through their school or is enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or in some states, Medicaid. For more information on eligibility, see FRAC’s Guide to Summer EBT Eligibility.
  • Most eligible children will receive benefits automatically, but some may need to apply. To see if you qualify and if you need to fill out an application, visit summerebt.org and click on your state!
  • To apply, you can check out your state agency’s website and fill out the application online, or through a paper application.
  • Each state has different issuance dates, so check with your state to find out when you can expect your card!
  • Families are encouraged to participate in both Summer EBT and Summer Meal Sites during the summer months
  • After receiving benefits, families will have 122 days, or about four months, to use them up.
