Four Reasons to Volunteer for a Healthier, Happier Holiday and New Year

  1. Giving of your time makes you feel happy.
  2. Volunteering increases your self-confidence.
  3. Doing good for others gives you a sense of accomplishment.
  4. Developing pride and identity through your volunteer role.

Do something for yourself by sharing your time with O.A.S.I.S. now and in the new year.

WANT ADS – Volunteers Needed!

OASIS Christmas Shop – Saturday, December 8th and Sunday, December 9th

Get your Christmas spirit in gear by helping at the annual OASIS Christmas Shop. This All-Volunteer event gives our pantry clients the opportunity to ‘shop’ for donated Christmas toys and winter wear for their family.  Clients sign-up at the Food Pantry to participate in the event which takes place over the weekend of December 7th at Hope Lutheran Family Center located at 1795 Old Hwy. 94, St. Charles, MO.

Volunteers over the age of 18 are still needed to work the following dates:

  • Saturday, December 8th – 7:30am until noon
Volunteers will be trained then work the Christmas Shop greeting shoppers, helping select toys, carrying bags, and creating a positive experience for shoppers (pantry clients).
  • Sunday, December 9th – 12:30pm until 4:30pm
Volunteers will be trained, work the Christmas Shop, then pack up toys, and clean up.

Please contact Pam Russina at pam.russina@att.net if you can help.

Pantry Drivers – Ongoing

O.A.S.I.S is seeking two people to do the Wednesday morning Schnucks/Dierbergs food donation pick-up.  This entails pick-up and delivery of food items from the designated grocery stores and takes about 3 hours (approximately 8am to 11am) using an O.A.S.I.S. cargo van. Drivers must have valid car insurance, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift at least 30 pounds unassisted. If you or you know someone who might be interested please contact Mike Wraspir by email at oasisfoodpan@aol.com or by phone 636-723-0037 at the food pantry.

Thrift Store Workers – Ongoing

The O.A.S.I.S Thrift Store is up and running but is short on volunteers. Donated items sold at the Thrift Store is one way the pantry raises funds to purchase food and personal care items for distribution at the pantry. Thrift Store hours are 10am until 3pm Wednesday through Saturday and Thursday evenings 4:30pm to 8:30pm.  If you or your church group (men or women) are looking for a fun service project and can give about 5 hours of your time per week to the Thrift Store, please contact Diana Mayfield by email relyondiana2@gmail.com or by phone 314-583-5599.

Birthday Bag Mission – Ongoing

The Food Pantry is seeking someone interested in helping with the Birthday Bag mission at O.A.S.I.S. This mission assembles a birthday kit for clients whose children will have a birthday during the month. The bags include a cake mix, frosting and a book or DVD for school-aged children. This is a flexible volunteer role where you can create your own schedule. Only 1-3 hours per week and fill-in when needed.  Contact Susan Petrosky 636-922-7421 if you have time to help.

Wishing you and yours God’s Blessings and a very Merry Christmas.
