$4000 Grant Received from Emerson

Sending a big thank you to our friends at Emerson for sending a $4000 grant to the food pantry. This is a wonderful and unexpected gift that will be used to purchase needed food and personal care items for our pantry shelves. Applause, Applause!

Volunteers Needed!

Drivers

O.A.S.I.S is seeking two people to do the Wednesday morning Schnucks/Dierbergs food donation pick-up.  This entails pick-up and delivery of food items from the designated grocery stores and takes about 3 hours (approximately 8am to 11am) using an O.A.S.I.S. cargo van. Drivers must have valid car insurance, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift at least 30 pounds unassisted. If you or you know someone who might be interested please contact Mike Wraspir by email at O.A.S.I.Sfoodpan@aol.com or by phone 636-723-0037 at the food pantry.

Thrift Store Workers

The O.A.S.I.S Thrift Store is up and running but is short on volunteers. Donated items sold at the Thrift Store is one way the pantry raises funds to purchase food and personal care items for distribution at the pantry. Thrift Store hours are 10am until 3pm Wednesday through Saturday and Thursday evenings 4:30pm to 8:30pm.  If you or your church group (men or women) are looking for a fun service project and can give about 5 hours of your time per week to the Thrift Store, please contact Diana Mayfield by email relyondiana2@gmail.com or by phone 314-583-5599.

O.A.S.I.S. Awarded Rotary Club Grant

We are excited to announce that the OASIS Food Pantry’s 2019 Children’s Summer Food Program has been selected to receive a grant from the Rotary Club of St. Charles. The OASIS Children’s Summer Food Program provides additional food items to families with school-aged children that visit the food pantry during summer months when free and reduced price meals are not available through schools.

Funding for the St. Charles Rotary grant is through proceeds from the 2018 Taste of St. Charles event, so when you attend this event you will also be supporting the O.A.S.I.S. Food Pantry. The event is scheduled for Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the St. Charles Convention Center ballroom from 6pm to 9pm.  This is a wonderful opportunity to taste and sip some delicious fare from St. Charles’ best restaurants and also support low-income school-aged children. So, save the date for now, there will more information about the event and where and how to buy tickets in future news articles.

Thanksgiving Donations Needed

Good morning FB Universe: I need your help please. As many of you know, The Brass Rail in O’Fallon Missouri feeds people in need for Thanksgiving every year for FREE. Last year we fed over 7000 people a hot Thanksgiving meal complete with all the trimmings. Well it’s nearly that time again and our goal this year is 10,000 meals; and this year we’d like to add a warm hat, gloves or mittens to EVERY order. So, we are humbly asking for donations to help us achieve this incredible goal. This is the first time we’ve had to ask for help, and we’re uncomfortable doing so, but the expense to feed 10,000 people and provide hats and gloves has gotten HUGE. If you have $5 or $10 or even some spare change, or can mail us a new winter hat, gloves or mittens, we’d be so grateful, and we promise you to put it to good use. If you would like to help please send to The Brass Rail 4601 Highway K O’Fallon MO 63368 Attn: Scott. And please share this with as many people as you can, maybe we can feed 12,000 with your help. Thank you so much.

Children’s Summer Food Program – Vatterott Grant Received

The O.A.S.I.S. Children’s Summer Food Program is aimed at supplementing school-age children’s food resources throughout the summer when free and reduced price meals are not available at schools. Each family with school-aged children visiting the pantry during June, July, and August will receive an additional food package that includes cereal, apple juice, bologna, hot dogs, cheese, granola bars, peanut butter, and mac and cheese. Costs for this program run about $15 per child and we estimate more than 2000 children will benefit from this program.

With those costs in mind, the O.A.S.I.S. Food Pantry feels very blessed to receive a $5000 grant towards our 2018 Children’s Summer Food Program from the Vatterott Family Youth Foundation. Not only did the Youth Foundation provide a $5000 grant they also came to the pantry to volunteer their time to pack the summer food bags and help distribute food. Receiving this grant is a great help in reaching our goal of providing needed food resources to low-income families and their school-aged children this summer. We are sending a big THANKS to the Vatterott Family Youth Foundation for their generous backing of our 2018 Children’s Summer Food Program.

Thank you for your continued support,
